Men – Connection & Community What is calling to be built or let go?
I’ve been meeting monthly with MT9 for seven years. Over that time we’ve formed an enduring connection — to each other, and to the ups and downs of each others lives.
The connections The Men’s Table has given me go well beyond our own Table. Connections to other Tables in the area, to the Kitchen Hand and Kitchen teams, and more broadly to organisations and services that support men’s mental health. Stepping into, up and out has been a wonderful experience.
Last year those connections expanded again when I attended the Man Alive gathering near Nowra.
I joined about nine other Men’s Table members and 30-plus men involved in men’s work and community.
Man Alive was a wonderful experience — following guidelines for safe and supportive spaces, exploring themes that matter to the men present. I connected deeply with myself and with men from diverse backgrounds. Three days to pause, reflect and explore the themes that come up at our Tables, with different people, in a different context, using different processes. It was extraordinary.
I enjoyed it so much I decided to join this year’s event team.
Man Alive has been running for 16 years. I’d like to extend the invitation for you to join the 17th event as we explore the theme Men – Connection and Community.
The gathering is a comfortable bush retreat — drug and alcohol free — held at Bamarang near Nowra. There are pre-planned workshops and open space for any man who attends to run his own session. This year’s focus is building connection and community.
Men from several Tables across NSW already come to Man Alive. Why not join us this year? Save the date: 27–30 August 2026. Places are limited to around 45 men, and 29 men have already registered their interest. Follow the link below if you’d like to be told when tickets go on sale shortly.
Want to have a chat or ask a question before you register for an entree? We’d love to hear from you. Please give us a call or fill out this form and a man who sits at a Table will get back to you.
